چکیده

A newmulti-generation of cuts algorithm is presented in this paper to improve the efficiency of Benders decomposition approach for the cases that optimality cuts are difficult to be achieved within the iterations of the algorithm. This strategy is referred to as maximum feasible subsystem (MFS) cut generation strategy. In this approach in each iteration of the Benders algorithm an additional cut is generated that ccepted 5 October 2009 vailable online 12 October 2009

Accelerating Benders method using covering cut bundle generation

Over the years, various techniques have been proposed to speed up the classical Benders decomposition algorithm. The work presented in the literature has focused mainly on either reducing the number of iterations of the algorithm or on restricting the solution space of the decomposed problems. In this article, a new strategy for Benders algorithm is proposed and applied to two case studies in o...

Generating Benders Cuts for a General Class of Integer Programming Problems

This paper proposes a method of generating valid integer Benders cuts for a general class of integer programming problems. A generic valid Benders cut in disjunctive form is presented rst, as a basis for the subsequent derivations of simple valid cuts. Under a qualiication condition, a simple valid Benders cut in linear form can be identiied. A cut generation problem is formulated to elicit it....

Cut generation for an integrated employee timetabling and production scheduling problem

This paper investigates the integration of the employee timetabling and production scheduling problems. At the first level, we manage a classical employee timetabling problem. At the second level, we aim at supplying a feasible production schedule for a set of interruptible tasks with qualification requirements and time-windows. Instead of hierarchically solving these two problems as in the cur...

An improved Benders decomposition algorithm for the logistics facility location problem with capacity expansions

We investigate a logistics facility location problem to determine whether the existing facilities remain open or not, what the expansion size of the open facilities should be and which potential facilities should be selected. The problem is formulated as a mixed integer linear programming model (MILP) with the objective to minimize the sum of the savings from closing the existing facilities, th...

Benders decomposition and column-and-row generation for solving large-scale linear programs with column-dependent-rows

In a recent work, Muter et al. (2013a) identified and characterized a general class of linear programming (LP) problems known as problems with column-dependent-rows (CDR-problems). These LPs feature two sets of constraints with mutually exclusive groups of variables in addition to a set of structural linking constraints, in which variables from both groups appear together. In a typical CDR-prob...
